Before band members pack up the three trucks with all of the instruments, uniform, equipment and luggage that they will need for the Tournament of Roses Bandfest performance on Thursday, Dec. 30, and the Rose Parade on Jan. 1, the trucks got “wrapped up.”
Installed on the back on Friday, Dec. 17, were the names of key sponsors who have helped make the $640,000 trip possible for the band. (In fact, just using the trucks, which will be loaded Monday, Dec. 20, is saving the band about $40,000 in checked baggage fees.)
Wrapped in bright purple and gold, the trucks should be hard to miss on the highway as they travel 2,303 miles – give or take – across the country to Pasadena, Calif.
The band is still raising money for the trip. If you would like to help, consider making a gift online at WCU’s giving website or purchasing an $8.50 webcast of the band’s performance at The Tournament of Roses Bandfest in California. The WCU band performs last in the morning session (Bandfest Show #2) on Thursday, Dec. 30. A portion of the proceeds benefit the band.
