In preparation for the 5.5-mile Rose Parade route, members of the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band wore pedometers during the fall semester as they worked to get in shape. Kevin Kimbrough, a student band staff coordinator, said band members have walked more than 260 million steps in 10 weeks! The mellophone section alone racked up an average of 108,099 footsteps per member in Week 10. The rhythm section stepped it up over the 10 weeks, with an average 41,678 steps per member the first week to an average 68,409 by the last. Way to move, rhythm section!
